How to increase stamina with Short HIIT 

Multiple studies have repeatedly shown that interval training is one of the most effective tools in building endurance fitness. It allows runners to run, swim, bike, etc., faster ‌before‌ ‌feeling tired!

Researchers recently discovered that short work intervals of only 30 seconds can increase endurance significantly.

 

Researchers at the University of Lillehammer in Norway studied the effects of long intervals (5 minutes) versus short intervals (30 seconds) on training results.

Both groups had similar fitness/physiology before the interval training program.

The study has shown that short-interval training results in much more significant aerobic endurance gains than longer-interval training.

The results suggest that everyone, and particularly endurance athletes, should seriously consider using short interval training to increase performance and fitness.

How to increase stamina with Tabata training

Every workout in the Tabata program lasts 4 minutes, but it could be the longest four minutes of your life.

 

The program will look something like this:

  • 20 seconds of intense exercise

  • For 10 seconds, rest

  • 8 rounds must be completed

 

One set consists of pushing yourself for twenty seconds and resting for ten seconds.

 

Each exercise is done 8 times

This workout strengthens the aerobic and anaerobic systems by performing high-intensity interval training.

 

 

How to increase stamina with ETR training

 

LISS and Extensive Tempo Running (ETR) have similar benefits, but extensive tempo running uses intervals.

They are typically done at around 70 to 80% of max heart rate or at 70% of max speed and a 1:2 work to rest ratio is followed.

By developing other athletic characteristics, it can be a more efficient workout method than simply performing LISS.

ETR not only contributes to higher training efficiency, but the fact that they are relatively low intensity by nature makes them less likely to fatigue the Central Nervous System.

As a result, they can be used on active rest days, which promotes neurological recovery.

ETR falls between 60-75% of max speed.

 

 

How to increase stamina with Fartlek training

 

Performing Fartlek is a way to become a faster runner and to increase running stamina through interval training.

 

Fast and slow segments alternate with slow jogs as you run, this is Fartlek training.

Following a fast segment, you should lower your pace until your breathing is normal again and you have completely recovered.

 

Warm-up at a relaxed tempo for 10 minutes

1 minute fast, 2 minutes easy, 2 minutes fast, 1 minute easy.

You should repeat the Fartlek set 3 to 4 times.

Cool down for 10 minutes at an easy tempo.
